- TRAFFIC STOPS LEAD TO MULTIPLE ARRESTS
June 3, 2014 12:06 AM ... An ECSO Deputy observed two males on a 2006 Honda ATV, riding on Augusta Rd in the Town of Edgefield. The passenger, Kenneth Thomas (40) of Aiken, was found to be in possession of marijuana and was arrested. Upon further investigation it was discovered that the driver, Tyrone Wakefield, Jr. of Edgefield, had an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear in court. It was also determined that the Honda ATV was stolen out of Aiken County. Wakefield was charged with DUS 2nd, Failure to Register Vehicle, False Info to Police, Operating Uninsured Vehicle, and Possession of Stolen Goods.

June 11, 2014 11:15 PM ... An ECSO Deputy observed a vehicle traveling north on Jeter St. with no working tail lights. The driver, Frenshaun Williams (22) of Edgefield, stated he was unaware of the tail lights and only had a Beginner's Permit. Williams was detained after he was observed to be very unsteady on his feet. Williams failed sobriety tests and stated he had consumed one beer and had smoked marijuana earlier. Williams passed a breath test and was arrested for Violation of Beginners Permit and No Tail Lights. The passenger, Maurice Davis (22) of Edgefield, was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant.

June 12, 2014 9:53 PM ... An ECSO Deputy observed a vehicle traveling 71 mph in a 55 mph zone on Hwy 121. While attempting the traffic stop, the vehicle turned onto Watson Rd and stopped. As the deputy was exiting his patrol car, the suspect vehicle drove off approximately 100 yards and stopped again in a peach field. The driver, Reginald Hammond (36) of Aiken, was removed from the vehicle and was detained for his attempt to evade. The Deputy observed a clear plastic bag containing suspected marijuana near the driver's seat. Hammond was arrested for Speeding and Possession of Marijuana 2nd Offense.

June 13, 2014 8:31 PM ... An ECSO Deputy observed an on-coming Toyota truck crossing the center line on Murrah Rd. The vehicle then left the road, riding along the grass shoulder. During the traffic stop, the driver, Chad Hargrove (19) of Augusta, stated that his driver's license was suspended, which was confirmed. The deputy noticed a strong smell of alcohol and requested an additional unit. Upon a search of the vehicle, a small black bag containing suspected marijuana and a small pipe were found between the front seats. Hargrove was arrested for Simple POssession of Marijuana, Reckless Driving, and No South Carolina Driver's License.
- COUNTY-WIDE WARRANT SWEEP NETS 11 ARRESTS
July 2, 2014 - The Edgefield County Sheriff's Office, along with SC Probation officers, conducted a county-wide search for subjects with active warrants yesterday evening. At the conclusion of the warrant sweep the following 11 arrests were made:
