Edgefield Man Arrested After Two Chases
July 6, 2010

The Johnston Sports Club was the scene of a driver striking at least two pedestrians, damaging the building, hitting another vehicle and then leading Sheriff’s Deputies and Edgefield Police on a chase. After crashing the brown truck, 23-year-old Jason Booth, of Edgefield, was able to escape capture early Friday morning. After making contact with the family, Booth agreed to turn himself in by 4 pm Friday. Instead, Booth allegedly used his father’s car and fled leading to another chase across the county that ended in North Augusta. Booth was spotted headed southbound on Highway 25 on the four-lane and refused to stop for an Edgefield
County Sheriff’s Deputy. The chase continued into Aiken County and then into the City of North Augusta. Stop-sticks were used to flatten the tires of the car Booth was driving and he was taken into custody
around 4:30 Friday afternoon. After being arrested he reportedly kicked the “back window” out of a Deputy’s patrol car. Booth was then placed in a transport van offered by North Augusta Police and transported to the Edgefield County Detention Center for booking on several outstanding warrants and is being held for additional charges.

Booth is currently being held at the Edgefield County jail facing a multitude of charges including two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, malicious injury to property, leaving the scene of an accident with bodily injury, fail to stop for blue lights and siren, driving under suspension for DUI, and a host of other charges.
